I grew up in this area and received my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Virginia Tech. After college, I joined the Peace Corps and served for two years in Paraguay as a Crop Extension Volunteer. I lived in a small rural community while I worked closely with families to find sustainable solutions to improve their overall quality of life. My experience as a volunteer changed my life and led me to become a teacher. I taught English to kids in my Paraguayan community and loved it so much that when I finished my service, I took classes while I worked to earn a teaching certificate. I also met and married a Paraguayan at the end of my service. We now have three children, Makayla, Lucas, and Theo. I started teaching Spanish at Spotswood in 2006 and I love it!
